Hosted a major Veterans Outreach Event with agencies such as NJReentry Dept. of Veterans Affairs (DVA) and NJ Dept. of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMAVA) all providing VSOs.
The Real Deal Barber Shop Jersey City NJ provided free haircuts to Veterans. It was their second year in a row to volunteer their services to Veterans. In May 2010 the business was featured on the TV program ""Construction Intervention: Real Deal Barber Shop & Salon"".
Membership recruiting was conducted by VFW and American Legion.
The organization Backpacks For life (BFL) organized by VFW POST 2294 Life Member Brett D'Alessandro provided 30 backpacks and 250 pairs of socks for distribution.
Veterans were treated to food specialties prepared by Post Commander & District 3 Commander Tony A. Goodson who prepared a large pan of roasted chop chicken with his famous gravy; Dept. Judge Advocate Derek L. Farthing made his large pot of Chii; and community Volunteer Iris Hogan made a large pan of Spanish rice. each along with salad and desserts made for a great day.
Added to the environment was a music playlist of classic rock RnB and patriotic tunes to make it enjoyable by all.
