VFW National Days of Service. The Posts National Days of Service took place on multiple days throughout May. The Post was involved in two different events as follows:
1. Cleanup of the Van Nest/Weston Burial Grounds a small Revolutionary era cemetery located at the south end of Manville which has become rundown and overgrown over the years. Work included collection and disposal of trash and garbage clearing overgrowth obscuring the grave sites identification of the grave sites of most of the 42 individuals buried there and replacing the flag holders and flags on the graves of the two veterans buried there: MG Frederick Frelinghuysen a Revolutionary War Veteran and Private Abraham G. VanNeste a Civil War Veteran. We are planning to continue the clean and repair of many of the gravestones in this cemetery over the upcoming year in preparation for America's 250th Anniversary in 2026. Thus far 12 Post members auxiliary and members of the public have participated in these efforts.2. Replacement of flags and flag holders on Veterans Graves at the St. Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery in Hillsborough.

Post Commander Dilks and QM Wisor participated in the Annual Beverly Cemetery Memorial Program conducted on May 18 2025. 2 Participants 12 Hours $15.

Post Members Participated in the Planning and conduct of Somerset County Vocational and Technical High School's Proud to be an American Day/Gold Star Mothers Recognition Day during April and May and attended the event which was held on Thursday May 22 2025. Post QM Wisor addressed the attendees and presented an award to one of the SCVTHS's students who had won 3rd Place in the Post's Patriot's Pen Program - 2 Participants 12 Hours.

Post 2290 plans coordinates and conducts the Manville Memorial Day Parade for the Borough of Manville which took place on May 25 2025. More than 10 units/organizations from youth and scout groups to veterans organizations local churches emergency responders politicians and other community organizations participated. Following the parade the post provided refreshments to the participants at our Post home. The Post donates the facility the food and any other materials required to assist in this effort. Participants - 30; Hours - 200; Value $1500 CS.
